Teacher training for Working in Distance Learning: Experience at a School of the Brazilian Army

This study aims to investigate the contribution of continuing education for teachers to teaching in the Distance Education (DE) modality, focusing on the experience of a Military College of the Brazilian Army and its Regular Distance Education Course. In this context, the relevance of teacher training to ensure efficiency in teaching in this modality is discussed. The research, of a qualitative nature, sought to raise theoretical concepts about teaching practice in this modality, covering aspects related to the qualification and updating of the teaching staff. In addition, the perception of teachers regarding the use of DE and the continuing education received was analyzed, in order to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement, based on the feedback obtained through questionnaires. It is expected that the results of the study, by highlighting the importance of continuing education, will contribute to institutions that intend to implement or are already developing similar educational projects.
