The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the world due to the lack of knowledge about the disease and how countries could seek ways to protect the population in the face of its rapid spread. Brazil, in turn, had to adopt measures of social isolation, which affected the academic community, including the Federal University of Santa Maria, which had a rapid transition from face-to-face to remote teaching. Faced with this new reality, this study evaluated the students' perception of remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. An online survey was carried out in which responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results obtained indicate that the involvement of teachers and their working methods are very important for students in relation to the conduction of the mechanisms used in remote teaching. This study brought relevant information regarding the evaluation of remote teaching, implemented in an emergency context in Higher Education Institutions.
