Educational technology is recognized as a systematic tool, planned and developed with the aim of facilitating the teaching-learning process, but it must be submitted to a validation process prior to its practical educational use. The objective of this article is to map the validation process of educational technologies in the health area. Scope review using the methodological framework of the Joanna Brigss Institute, carried out in December 2021 and updated in December 2022 in seven peer-reviewed databases, based on the acronym PCC (Population: educational technologies, Concept: validation processes and Context: any educational level in the area of health). A final sample of 214 works was included in this review, which represented a predominance of studies in the area of nursing (86%), published in Brazil (92%) and the use of educational manuals (43%) as an educational technology, based on Psychometrics of Pasquali (16.2%) as a theoretical validation framework. The growing validation and use of educational technologies in health denotes the search for improvements in the educational process, however failures were identified in the use of theoretical references to solidify the methodological rigor of validation. It is suggested to improve the use of theoretical frameworks that are consistent with the methodological rigor required for the validation process.
