Training as a Strategy for Technological Transition: a Case Study at a Federal Higher Education Institution

Abstract

This case report presents the development and implementation of a training model designed to facilitate technological transition at a Federal Institution of Higher Education (IFES) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study adopted a mixed-methods exploratory approach (qualitative-quantitative), with data collected between May 2020 and July 2021 from participating technical-administrative staff members. The objective was to structure a cultural change strategy capable of minimizing the resistance and trauma common in technological migration processes. The results demonstrated the intervention's full success, evidenced by a high positive correlation between expectation fulfillment and the general course evaluation, as well as the absence of negative evaluations. The cooperative model fostered self-confidence and autonomy among the staff, resulting in the consolidation of the proposed technological tool: significant growth in the resource's adoption was observed, rising from 93 shared drives in the first months to 218 after one year, ensuring the continuity and efficiency of public services during a crisis scenario.
