Curation of Digital Educational Resources in the Reading and Textual Production Discipline of the Virtual University of the State of São Paulo

Abstract

This article investigates the curation process of digital educational resources in the Reading and Text Production discipline (LET100) at the Virtual University of the State of São Paulo (UNIVESP). The discipline, a fundamental part of the basic cycle of all undergraduate courses, aims to develop reading and writing skills in more than 25,000 incoming students annually. The methodology used involved the documentary analysis of the discipline's materials and non-participant observation of the Virtual Learning Environment. LET100 uses a variety of digital educational resources, such as video lessons, basic texts, quizzes, and discussion forums, to create a dynamic and interactive learning experience. The selection and organization of these resources reflect a commitment to meaningful and autonomous learning, essential characteristics for success in Distance Education (DE). The preliminary results point to the importance of digital curation in the organization of resources and in supporting student learning. The study analyzes the structure of the discipline, the pedagogical objectives, and the choice of digital resources, demonstrating how digital curation contributes to the construction of an engaging and effective learning environment. The research highlights the importance of LET100 in the development of essential skills for the academic and professional success of UNIVESP students.
