Abstract

This study compares Distance Learning (DL) strategies between UNIVESP (Brazil) and UNED (Spain), emphasising the importance of innovation and efficiency in virtual education. The aim was to identify the best pedagogical, technological, and academic practices adopted by both institutions. Data were gathered from official sources using documentary research methodology. The results revealed that, despite being institutions of significantly different scales and ages, both prioritise a common student-centred approach, promoting autonomy and flexibility in the educational process. The integration of educational technologies and innovative practices reflects an effective adaptation to contemporary DL demands. The conclusions demonstrate that UNIVESP and UNED prioritise a student-centred approach, fostering autonomy and flexibility. Both effectively meet contemporary DL demands by incorporating educational technologies and innovative practices, providing efficient and accessible learning opportunities, seeking to overcome various challenges of distance education, including student dropout
